Guest SA Intruder Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Had the service done as mentioned a day or two ago Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Hobin Preston, pretty good. Quote
gazza007 Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Good price too.Does Gearbox problem just common to 130's? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 What's the 30,000 mile service on the 130 supposed to be, major or minor? Ford quote major service every 30,000 on the 115, which seems to run out at Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 See edited addition above. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 That's not a service, it's just an oil change! 30 quid labour - about 25 minutes' worth. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 It's a 30,000 mile service. What do you think Ford do? How much was your 10,000 mile service? Mine was Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 10,000 mile service done before I bought the car, 20,000 mile cost about Quote
seatkid Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 I'm a little surprised that SA intruder doesn't do his own oil change but I guess it the warranty thing. Just a minor point - Shell Helix Diesel plus 5W-40 seems to be a VW505.00 oil see here :( Ivor, I thought Black MPV's were reserved for undertakers and the FBI. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 ..and for those who like winding people up! I wasn't going to mention the oil spec. Wonder if they over-filled it too...... Quote
seatkid Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 No, he checked that (first post). But what did they put in his box? - I recall many years ago sawdust was very popular! :( :( Sorry - that was uncalled for.... but I couldn't resist... B) Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Free Litre is given to use for top ups - on the back it states VW505.01 And it does here... http://www.shell-helix.de/ek/artikelsubp_ek_472.html It also mentons Pumpe Deuse specifically. I cannot do own changes due to Company Car issues/Warranty. And I'm the MD..... We need to compare apples and apples. A service is a mere oil change, plus "checks" plus any other specified change of consumables. To get the basic one for Quote
Xenonman Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Basically, you can use the fully synthetic Shell Helix Ultra X 0W-30 on VW/Audi PD & petrol engines with extended drain intervals, 2 years or 50000 km-30000 miles servicing intervals. this applies from 2000 but only on certain vehicles. The Shell Helix Diesel Plus VA (note the VA) 5W-40 is partially synthetic & specifically designed for VW/Audi PD engines with or without Turbo. Not to be used for extended drain intevals. It fulfils the requirements according to Ford (M2C 917A), VW (505.01) as well as B3-98 ACEA and API CF. This is a basic translation of the info on this pagehttp://www.shell-helix.de/ek/artikelsubp_ek_472.html Just thought it might clear some issues. Quote
gazza007 Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Just gave Hobin for quote on 50K Service, Quote
Jim Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 Advised Cambelt change was 60K for 2001 model year Interesting .... 40K on my 2000 (Oct) Galaxy that came with a 3 year warranty. Quote
seatkid Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 For diesel models produced up to 03/2000 (i.e. 90/110 Tdi engine) its 40k for Automatics and 60k/5yrs for Manual. After 03/2000 (i.e. 115/130 PD engine) its 40k/5yrs for every variant. OK? :o Quote
Jim Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 For diesel models produced up to 03/2000 (i.e. 90/110 Tdi engine) its 40k for Automatics and 60k/5yrs for Manual. After 03/2000 (i.e. 115/130 PD engine) its 40k/5yrs for every variant. Agree with you seatkid - but looks like Hobin's don't. Be through all this with a Ford dealer - they thought the cambelt was due at 60K and ended up having to do it for me FOC shortly after I bought the car. Looks like gazza007 is being given incorrect info - this time from a Seat dealer? Quote
gazza007 Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 Had technician at David Cook check my engine number this morning. Confirmed that belt change was 40k miles, therefore should have been done by Bells at last service. Not sure if I would get one done FOC but wouldn't go there anyway. I quite like David Cook's , family concern & first SEAT dealership in Gtr Manchester (1985) He did say that there are some facelift models that are now 60k and I think he was refererring to latest models. Anyway he said that he was not aware of any problems, so I think I'll get it done at 50k service which is in 4k. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 gazza007, DC was my supplying dealer. PDI: Tyre pressures at least 10psi too low, no washer fluid, no radio code in book, lots of plastic protection sheet left on seats. 2 teaspoons of fuel in it. Went in for aircon clean (previous post, yonks ago), they damaged the engine cover (photos on previous post) and left off the scuttle seals. When tech came to change cover and replace seals, he pulled dipstick out and put it on the ground....I went effing ape. Never been back since. Quote
gazza007 Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 The young tech seems knowledgeable & helpful, the attitude seemed so much better than BALLS and they seemed to have a lot of time for me today and when they did the air-con. Mind you somebody at work slated the other Man dealer in Stretford??? Preston or Crew perhaps but both a little too farMay have a chat with Wayne C about doing the T-belt nearer the time.My exp with dealers with all my cars of the past, is that they're all the same.I rem with my Citroen ZX, they had charged for washer fluid at a service, so next time I filled it up before I arrived but they still charged, when i queried it the bloke threw a sachet of wash across the counter, I threw it back & made him take it off the bill as Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 Let me know when you next go to DC - you can have a drive of my 130. Quote
Jim Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Had technician at David Cook check my engine number this morning. Confirmed that belt change was 40k miles, therefore should have been done by Bells at last service. Not sure if I would get one done FOC but wouldn't go there anyway. Only got it free as I bought car after 40K service, supposedly with a FSH. All credit to the dealer I suppose, because they honoured the FSH and did the belt, although, it was them who missed it in the first place! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Had a read of the service schedule whilst digging around in the vehicle documentation trying (unsuccessfully) to find out how to unjam a CD autochanger that won't release, and checked the 30,000 mile service schedule. It appears that on a Gal TDI, the only differences between major 30,000 mile services and minor (other 10,000 mile intervals) is to change the fuel filter and clean the PCV. Quote
